Originally from Tibet, the Lhasa Apso was esteemed as a watchdog in palaces and monasteries of their mountainous homeland. Today, while no longer palace guards, they continue to be loyal companions, protecting their families. Small yet sturdy and independent, Lhasas adapt well to various homes, including apartments, and are suitable for first-time pet owners. However, they require firm and consistent training to respect leadership. With their needs met, Lhasas become loving and playful family members, maintaining their heritage of loyalty and vigilance.
